This is the long texty bit!
I'm always looking for new contacts and new work opportunities, so tweet me @billgreenwood call me or drop me a mail email@example.com
Having been in the publishing trade my whole working life, I have amassed a wide range of skills in analogue/digital print production, presentation graphics production and management experience, that ranges across many of the media fields. I am a natural problem solver and am always keen to take on a challenge.
Only the highest standards and a eagled-eyed attention to detail is required in the quality end of the publishing and packaging industries. Along with the requirement for the highest level of colour accuracy and brand consistency, my packaging and publishing clients require me to ensure the finest colour control and with three PrintWeek Creative Repro Company of the Year awards under my belt - and a few commendations, I have consistently achieved top-end quality for both my employers and clients for many years.
I help maintain the colour standards of many European retail brands by attending press passes and colour viewings worldwide. This covers all processes including, gravure, litho, screen and flexo. From a label to a tin can, to a flexible wrapper or child's gum tattoo, keeping standards high and colour consistant across a client's whole range.
On a production level I am a high-end retoucher, creative artworker and presentation production specialist with over twenty years experience in print and digital publishing, and packaging. I am highly skilled in the usual desktop applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, a whole suite of PDF tools, presentation tools such as Powerpoint, Prezi and Keynote.
I have set up and administered high-end workflow systems from OneVision, Helios, Dalim and Kodak (Prinergy). I dabble with Flash and After Effects and have a sound working knowledge of audio creation and editing tools
Throughout my career I've strived to deliver the best practice in every area I have worked in, learning new skills and championing evolving technologies.
For many of the companies I have worked for I have headed up their top-level client teams. These have included Account Director for Wallpaper Magazine, Harrods, Laura Ashley and John Lewis, on-site Project Manager for Steelcase at their European headquarters in Strasbourg, France. I have run entire account management, production and editorial teams; managed the whole supply chain as well as costing and invoicing. My interest in technology has seen me become involved with I.T. projects and major purchasing decisions.
A BIT OF HIS STORY
This all started for me with the old-school, hands-on practices of paste-up and layout, platemaking, printing - both litho and screen. I experienced working on the early professional desktop and retouching systems, all the way through to today's high-end workflows; dynamic and cross media publishing, print-on-demand and brand management systems.
The projects I have been involved with range from high-end fashion shots to imagery for packaging and advertising, swatch-matched catalogues and huge posters for building wraps, taxi, tube, bus and even graphic wall installations for hospitals where detail has to be exact.
Training and development is very close to my heart and for four years I worked as a part-time trainer for Bibliotech New Media in London EC1. There I wrote and taught adult evening classes in advanced page-makeup, reprographics and high-end Photoshop retouching. Through Bibliotech I was able to attend many teacher and management training courses. I am a grade 2 teacher and also have City and Guilds qualifications in Electronics and Information Technology.
I am lucky to have a great contact list and to have also worked alongside some very fantastic, senior and knowledgeable print, publishing and new media people, and from being able to learn a lot from all the experiences in the workplace. My passion for all forms of printing and publishing and digital media makes working just as much fun as it is a job.
So, if you managed to read through all that, then feel free just to drop me a line :) I might even buy you a beer!
